25th Annual Stuff-a-Bus Food Drive Kicks off with
“Waffles and Wings” Luncheon October 17th
On Wednesday, October 17th, area culinary enthusiasts will have the opportunity to lunch on southern comfort fare: “Waffles and Wings” while supporting Peoria Friendship House. A long time staple of the Deep South, this combination has become a trendy meal in larger cities in the north. Celebrities, including Gladys Knight, have made it a signature dish at their restaurants. The fundraiser supporting the 2012 Stuff-a-Bus food drive will take place at 11:30 am at Barracks Cater Inn.
MENU: Chef Carved Ham Waffles, Syrup & Butter Fried Chicken Wings Collard Greens, Flavored with Bacon and Onions Butter Grits, Bacon Cheddar Grits Fresh Fruit Salad For the past 25 years, CityLink, Kroger and Peoria Friendship House have joined hands in an effort to gather enough food to stuff a CityLink bus. The food is then distributed throughout the year through the Peoria Friendship House Food Pantry. In addition to the food products collected, the funds raised through the Waffles and Wings luncheon will be used to provide fresh meats for the weekly pantry distribution. Over 40,000 meals will be provided to needy families in Peoria through Friendship House emergency service programs.
Peoria Friendship House of Christian Service, 800 NE Madison, has been serving those in need on Peoria’s near north side for more than 60 years providing food, meals, clothing, children’s programs, Hispanic outreach, and emergency services. It is the home of Dress for Success Peoria and RSVP.
